Curriculum
Even though we are a small school, we offer a
wonderful program with lots of opportunities for our students. Our
curriculum is enriched with lots of "extras". Our primary emphasis is motivating students toward academic achievement
combined with Christian discipleship.
A complete comprehensive academic program is offered with special emphasis on
the fundamental skills of reading, math and language arts. The Bible
is part of the curriculum and Christian values are integrated in the
classroom and on the playground. Everything is taught in a loving
atmosphere. Our basis curriculum includes
Bible:
Students study the Old and New Testament and memorize scripture verses.
Chapel: The
entire student body participates in a weekly chapel. Chapel is led by each
teacher or an outside speaker on a rotating basis.
Language Arts:
Students learn to master the English language by studying:
Reading
Phonics / Vocabulary
Grammar
Spelling
Handwriting
Creative Writing
Public Speaking
Math
: Students learn
to master their math facts, study math theory, and apply math skills in word
problems using the Saxon Math Curriculum.
Science: Students
explore God’s creation by studying nature and general science.
Social Studies:
Students study the world in which they live.
Physical Education:
Students practice skills and
sport drills.
Music: Students
learn about worship and praise.
Art:
Students learn
about color, shape and perspective.
Computers:
Students in 1st through 8th grades use computers to supplement classroom
learning.
In addition we offer

Spirit Week:
Students participate in school-wide fun and silly activities to boost
school spirit.

Field trips:
Students visit various museums, science centers, and musical and drama
performances.

Young Authors:
Students have the experience of writing, editing and illustrating their
own books.

Community Service and Mission projects:
Students participate in projects for missions, food drives and toy drives
for needy families here and abroad.

Science Fair:
Students in 5th
through 8th grade design
and conduct their own science experiments.

Fine Arts Festival:
Students in
grades 5 – 8 participate in a regional festival promoting excellence in
speech, writing, and vocal and instrumental performances.

Outdoor Science
School:
Students in grades 5 and 6 enjoy a weeklong trip to Mount Hermon Outdoor
Science School each spring.

Camping Trip:
The 7th
& 8th grade class explore nature, develop team-building and
problem solving skills during this 4 day trip.
Textbooks
Textbooks published by Christian Schools, International and supplemented
by standard school textbooks are used to form a strong, balanced curriculum
which is thoroughly integrated with the Bible and Christian principles.
